Moore highlighted updates to student dress and appearance policy to standardize protected categories and to emphasize consistent, non‑shaming enforcement; changes to student discipline policy to emphasize support and non‑exclusionary interventions; expanded language on cyberbullying and hazing; clearer procedures for interviews by outside agencies (including law enforcement) with an emphasis on privacy and attempts to contact guardians; and a proposed repeal of a brief student recognition policy deemed unnecessary.
Director Sarah Mitchell asked whether the opt‑out process for student surveys and other optional procedures would be made easier to access; Moore responded that the communications will be updated and will include messaging delivered through the student information system and related channels. The policies were posted for further public comment and will return to the board for action at a subsequent meeting.
