Osseo district begins construction of community learning center at former Crestview site

District staff reported construction has started on a community learning center in Brooklyn Park, planned to open in fall 2027 and host early childhood programs, an American Indian Cultural Center, tutoring and other community uses.
District staff told the board that construction has begun on a community learning center at the former Crestview Elementary site in Brooklyn Park. The center is intended to serve all ages and provide programming determined with community input, including early childhood and preschool programming, professional development, summer targeted services, tutoring and credit‑recovery work.
“The new learning center will serve all ages with programming that the community helped to determine,” a staff presenter said. Staff said the center is tentatively set to open in fall 2027. The superintendent’s report also reminded families about a district kindergarten information night on Aug. 19 and announced other student opportunities, including a Park Center Senior High concurrent‑credit teaching course and recent student achievements such as chess competition results.
The board received the updates for information; no capital or budget action was taken at the meeting. Staff asked stakeholders to monitor osseoschools.org for construction and program updates.
