Doug Anderson previews pole barn and wood-drying kiln in preliminary Planning Board discussion

Doug Anderson told the Danville Planning Board at its Jan. 22 meeting that he is considering a 40-by-50-foot pole barn to store equipment and a kiln to dry firewood at his property associated with “Doug’s Tree Service.” Anderson said he is willing to assist with road work related to Frye Road’s proposed opening to Route 111 and that he has equipment to do the work. He estimated the project could begin within six months to a year.

Chip Current said the Frye Road connection is currently in state-level discussions but that funding still needs to be worked out. Barry Hantman said the scale of Anderson’s proposal would trigger a minor site-plan review and would require documentation showing the structure layout, stormwater/runoff impacts, any parking changes, and details of electrical or plumbing work. The board and Anderson discussed the need to consult the Fire Department about whether the pole barn would require fire suppression; Anderson said he would downsize the building if the Fire Department required suppression and that he plans to install a gate and a Knox box.

Board members directed that Anderson submit a minor site plan showing building dimensions and related site features and to coordinate with the Fire Department. No formal application or vote was taken; the meeting recorded this as a preliminary discussion and next steps for review.
