Staff reviewed the statutory vacancy process under the Second Class Township Code: the remaining board members have 30 days to appoint someone to serve until the next election; if the board cannot agree, a vacancy-board period of 15 days follows and, if unresolved, a court appointment will fill the seat. Staff recommended a solicitation package and a special meeting for candidate interviews on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 6:30 p.m., and the board authorized staff to advertise the vacancy and the special interview meeting.
The board asked staff to prepare an application process that includes a volunteer application form and a two‑page letter of interest addressed to the board. Supervisors also discussed the timeline for interviewing and appointing a successor to serve the remaining term.
