Votes and key actions: Westgate pilot and sidewalk ordinance sent to council

At its Sept. 23 meeting the Public Works & Public Utilities Committee recorded two formal committee referrals to council:
1) Westgate Drive temporary pilot and short no-parking zone — Motion moved by Corey Hoffman and seconded by Frasier; committee roll call recorded unanimous 'Yes' votes (Hoffman, Frasier, Mayor Bridal). Staff will prepare a resolution and maps for council consideration and recommended a 12-month pilot with baseline and follow-up traffic counts and the option to reverse the connection if problems arise.
2) Sidewalk-maintenance code (section 909) amendment — Motion moved to send the ordinance to council for readings and a public hearing; committee recorded unanimous support. Staff will draft ordinance text that aligns with Ohio Revised Code and PROWAG standards, provide outreach materials, and schedule hearings.
Other items discussed were administrative policy updates (recycling/refuse container rollout, vehicle discipline changes, mailbox-replacement approach, roadside-memorials policy) and a notice that the public utilities code will be reviewed and presented to council in October. No other formal committee votes were taken.
