Chief Adam Moore (speaker 9) told council the social worker has allowed officers to refer people for long‑term services and shared an email excerpt describing clients who entered and completed treatment, regained stability and now work and live in sober housing. "The long story short is these folks came to the attention of the police department. We were able to direct them to a full time social worker at our facility, and through her help, we now have folks that hopefully won't have contact with our police department again," Chief Moore said.
Council asked about the possibility of expanding the position if additional funding became available; Chief Moore said expansion would depend on sustainable funding and that staff could explore options with the mental health board and potential settlement funds. Council approved the renewal by roll call.
