When asked whether the change would reduce total lighting, staff said local residential infrastructure would be reduced "for local residential streets, it would be reduced, for the public infrastructure, but still trying to keep that lighting required present along the sidewalk and making it feel like a comfortable, safe place to walk." The planning director also emphasized a preference for tree canopy and acknowledged reliance on HOAs to maintain consistent private lighting in subdivisions.
Commissioners also mentioned the Delaware South new community authority millage, discussed infrastructure priorities in the Southeast Focus area, and welcomed an intern, Lainie Seller, who will assist the planning department. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
