Delaware County District Library outlines post-levy expansion, new hours and services

Nicole Fowles, communications coordinator for the Delaware County District Library, briefed council on system updates since voters approved the levy in May. She reported 106,501 total cardholders systemwide, about 250,000 in-person visits in the first half of the year, and roughly 750,000 items checked out year-to-date; the Delaware branch accounts for about 44,000 cardholders (42% of the system).
Fowles invited council and the public to grand-reopening events across branches on Monday, Sept. 15, and described operational changes the levy will fund, including expanded branch hours, exploratory pick-up lockers for 24-hour item retrieval and later maker-studio availability. “After we passed our levy this May, we really decided that it was good for us to come out and give, twice a year updates to the cities that have our libraries,” Fowles said. City officials thanked library staff and noted the library’s role in youth programming and community partnerships.
