District details integrated plan tying literacy, staff training and targeted funds to student supports

Beth, a district staff member, presented Stanfield SD 61's required integrated plan for state-targeted funding streams including SIA, high-school-success and early-literacy funds and described how the district monitors progress.

"This is our budget for this year," Beth said, summarizing how the money is allocated across intervention buckets. She detailed three long-standing intended outcomes — increasing classroom engagement, closing achievement gaps for focal populations (students with disabilities and English learners) and improving stakeholder engagement — and pointed to investments the district has made to support those goals, including a literacy specialist and district-wide phonics training for elementary staff. Beth noted the district met its four-year graduation targets for focal populations but fell short on its five-year completion rate and on 9th-grade on-track for all students; she said specific performance numbers are in the handout provided to board members.

Board members asked clarifying questions about data practices and supports for transfer students. Beth described the district's data culture — three reviews of student data per year — and the flexibility to make midyear interventions when students begin to slip. She said the plan itself does not change substantially year to year but that the district adjusts internally when targets are missed. The board did not take an action vote on the integrated plan during the meeting; Beth said she would circulate additional materials and recommended next steps, including a Sept. 15 decision deadline for whether to participate in an ESD equity-consortium that would meet quarterly.
