Thompson accepts $2.2 million NY Swims grant for new pool at East Mongaup River Park

The Town Board voted to accept a $2.2 million NY Swims grant to build a new pool at East Mongaup River Park (Res. No. 312). Director of Community Development Jill M. Weyer told the board the grant award will fund construction and that the supervisor is authorized to sign documents required by the grant conditions.
The parks and recreation agenda items also authorized a bus trip to a New York Red Bulls game on August 1 (pre-purchased tickets and bus rental), and several Kartrite Indoor Waterpark events including four Tuesday swimming sessions in August (prepaid $25 tickets) and a November 6 magic show (ticketed at $25 for adults, $20 for children). Weyer said the ticketed events are prepaid and will not affect the town’s operating budget.
The NY Swims award marks a major capital investment in local recreation infrastructure and will require the supervisor to execute grant documentation and comply with award conditions before project procurement and construction commence.
