District review: Stamford performance index below state average; science comparatively stronger

Scott Clayton said the district’s three-year performance index was shown around the mid-50s and that the state performance target is 75; he highlighted that Stamford ranked second in science within its district reference group for grades 5, 8 and 11.
"I think we are at 54.3. The state average is is 60.2," Clayton said while reviewing performance-index slides and Derg comparisons. He emphasized that standardized assessments provide a snapshot in time and recommended using them alongside classroom measures and targeted interventions.
Dr. Laura Greene reviewed MLS/LAS Links assessments for multilingual learners, explaining exit criteria (overall 4 or 5 and reading and writing scores of 4) and described the district's implementation of Personalized Learning Plans that include student- and parent-facing goal-setting and periodic progress checks.
