Chad Wright, assistant treasurer, presented a no-cost renewal for safekeeping, custodial and brokerage services used by the state's unclaimed property program. Wright told the committee the program continues to return funds to citizens and encouraged members and residents to check the unclaimed property database.
Wright said there is "over $1,500,000,000" in unclaimed assets and urged citizens to search for names of people they know who might be owed funds. Committee members praised the program's outreach and the treasurer’s office indicated they maintain stacks of claim forms for citizens to complete.
