The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees voted 7–0 to approve payment of outstanding student meal debt discussed at the board meeting on July 20, 2026. The motion was made by Jason Ward and seconded by Dwayne Stovall and passed unanimously.
Kristy Fruia, Custodial Services & Child Nutrition Supervisor, reported that "Current outstanding Debt is $2243.28" and explained that Texas Department of Agriculture policy requires negative meal account debt remaining at the end of the school year to be paid off, while prohibiting the use of Child Nutrition funds to clear that debt. Trustees approved a motion to address the shortfall as presented; the motion record shows Yea: 7, Nay: 0.
