Recreation committee previews consultant selection for Edmunds Park master plan

The Halifax County Recreation Advisory Committee met on June 30 to review evaluation materials for a planned Recreation Master Plan for Edmunds Park but could not take formal action because "a quorum was not present," County staff said. Mr. Ron Brade introduced Mr. Travis Moore as the county's Interim Parks Director and explained that Moore will focus on recreation programming while park maintenance will be managed by Mr. Jason Johnson, Director of General Properties.
Mr. Brade distributed evaluation binders containing the Request for Proposals, an addendum, proposed interview questions and evaluation forms, and told members that the County had received six proposals. Committee members were instructed to independently evaluate each submission with consistent attention and reconvene on July 20, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. to compare scores, establish a consensus ranking, and decide which firms will advance to interviews. The County plans to select a consultant based on qualifications and enter negotiations on scope and fee in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act.
