The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees voted 7–0 on July 20, 2026 to adopt the district’s 2026–27 Student Code of Conduct following staff presentation and board questions. Trustee Dwayne Stovall moved to approve the code; Paige Bostwick seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Jared Nettles, Director of School & Student Services, told trustees the proposed code changes include updating the listed point of contact to the Superintendent and the Superintendent’s secretary and removing the discipline matrix for possession of personal communication devices. The board discussed the items during the information session prior to the vote and heard clarifying answers from Nettles. Trustee Susan Rollins later stated for the record that the student referenced during the discussion "was disciplined and did attend DAEP." The board recorded the final vote as Yea: 7, Nay: 0.
