The board paused its regular agenda to recognize 13 Geneseo Central School (GCS) juniors and seniors who received Livingston County youth awards for volunteerism, athletics and school leadership.
"This night, we were able to recognize 13 different GCS juniors and seniors, which is up from last year when we celebrated 4," Speaker 6 said during the presentation, noting increased nominations and community engagement. Presenters described recipients' contributions including Big Blue/Little Blue mentoring, robotics and Odyssey participation, and volunteer work with local organizations.
Nominators provided specific examples of service and resilience: speakers described students who mentor elementary students, assist with family businesses, organize holiday toy drives, and participate in competitive academic and athletic programs. The school and presenters encouraged community members to nominate future candidates and invited nominators and awardees to a group photo with board members after the presentation.
The recognition segment included an invitation for the public to attend an upcoming awards night in early June; no formal board action was required or taken during the award presentations.
