The board voted to set a public hearing for July 20, 2026 on Local Law No. 3 of 2026, a proposal to pull conflict-of-interest provisions out of the village's code of ethics and adopt a separate conflict-of-interest policy. Staff said the change came after the Authority Budget Office review of the IDA's website indicated a standalone conflict-of-interest policy was needed.
Staff explained that the practice in the past has been for the town and related agencies (GIPA, IDA) to adopt the same policies so employees who overlap agencies follow the same rules. The hearing date was set at the board’s next meeting and the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff summarized the change: the village will create a separate conflict-of-interest policy to align with other agencies; the board did not yet adopt the policy itself and will consider public comment at the scheduled hearing.
