A motion to make the adjustments and re-levy the bills was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
During the discussion a board member characterized the situation bluntly, saying the village was "trying to work on some ways to contact some of these people and put a little fear of God in them." Staff responded that enforcement through existing local law (ROP) may provide leverage: "in order to be eligible for an ROP, you have to be up to date on taxes," staff said.
