Sheriff says lobby office work under way; commissioners OK an additional part-time dispatcher, custodian reports front-door part found

Don Jacobs, Jewell County sheriff, told the commissioners that work has begun on a new office in the sheriff's lobby.
Jacobs said someone had applied for the part-time dispatcher position and asked whether the department could have another part-time employee, noting they have "only ever had one" part-time dispatcher. The commissioners said that would be acceptable because part-time employees do not receive benefits.
Separately, Chris Petet, the county custodian, reported that Norton Glass inspected the front door and was able to find the part needed to repair it, noting the repair is planned to proceed following parts acquisition.
