Trinity ISD board adopts $16.2M budget, sets tax rate at $0.8812

At a regular meeting Aug. 25 at the administration building, the Trinity Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously adopted the 2025–26 budget and set a combined tax rate of $0.8812 per $100 valuation. The board also approved a resolution certifying the tax roll as presented by the Trinity County Appraisal District.
The board recorded fund-level budget figures in the motion: General Fund (199) Revenue $16,201,519 and Expenditures $16,190,600; Food Service (240) Revenue $1,104,350 and Expenditures $1,066,502; I&S (599) Revenue $894,920 and Expenditures $836,338. Member Monty Huffman moved to approve the budget and Elizabeth King seconded; President Kevin Searcy called for discussion and the motion carried unanimously.
Board members also approved the tax-rate motion moved by Elizabeth King and seconded by Ricky Hortman to set the maintenance & operations (M&O) rate at $0.6995 and the interest & sinking (I&S) rate at $0.1817, producing a total rate of $0.8812. Judy Bishop moved, and Elizabeth King seconded, a separate resolution approving certification of the tax roll presented by the Trinity County Appraisal District; that resolution likewise passed unanimously. The board did not record dissenting votes in the minutes.
