The Tulia Independent School District Board of Trustees convened into closed session at 6:33 p.m. on June 2, 2025 “in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code” to deliberate personnel matters for the 2025–2026 school year, discuss assignment, reassignment, evaluation and legal advice concerning the Tulia Elementary School principal, and consider resignations. The minutes record that the closed session began at 6:33 p.m. and ended at 6:59 p.m.
The minutes do not disclose substantive deliberations or any definitive action taken in closed session. The open-session entry that follows notes return from closed session and instructs that any matters on which action may be appropriate would be addressed, but the minutes for this called meeting do not record an open-session vote or personnel action tied to the closed-session topics. As with the signatory resolution, the minutes contain an internal inconsistency about which individual is labeled “Board President”: the signatory list identifies Clint Mahannah as Board President, while the closed-session notation attributes the closed-session announcement to “Board President Ashley Ramirez.” The minutes do not reconcile that inconsistency.
The board adjourned at 7:00 p.m. and scheduled its next regular meeting for June 26, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
