The Tom Bean Independent School District Board of Trustees certified recent election results, administered oaths to returning members and completed organizational elections at its May 12 regular meeting.
President Steve Rogers certified that Shawna Merriman and James Hamilton were elected to three-year terms and that Colton Miller and Tom Sharp were elected in a special election to one-year terms. James Hamilton, Shawna Merriman and Tom Sharp were sworn in by Beth Hale.
In reorganization votes, a motion by President Steve Rogers to nominate James Hamilton as board president was seconded by Beth Hale and carried 5 in favor, 0 opposed. A motion to nominate Scott Renfro as vice president was made by Beth Hale, seconded by Shawna Merriman, and recorded as carried 5–0; the minutes list Renfro as absent. A motion by Shawna Merriman to nominate Beth Hale as secretary, seconded by Steve Rogers, also carried 5–0.
The board noted attendance as Steve Rogers, Beth Hale, Shawna Merriman, James Hamilton and Tom Sharp present; Scott Renfro and Colton Miller were recorded as absent. The minutes include one alternate spelling of Colton/Colten Miller in the certification language; the record reflects both renderings.
