The Budget and Insurance Committee introduced Resolution 26‑06, a transparency measure aimed at showing taxpayers the effect of school district levies on municipal tax bills. Committee members said they will present the material to the city council as the first step, then to other municipalities, to illustrate how district costs translate to local tax impacts.
"Our plan is moving forward. It'll be Laura and I that'll move this forward to the city council... We'll find out when we can get on their agenda," Board President Steve Olsen said during the discussion. Committee members who attended a recent summit said the resolution follows work other districts are doing to show the local effect of school funding choices and to educate voters and municipal partners.
The committee discussed updated numbers and intends to bring a formatted resolution and materials back to the board and to municipal partners this fall. No final municipal approvals were recorded in committee; staff will prepare the packet for the city council and other municipalities and return with recommended next steps.
