Township says new storm system will reduce flooding and improve local waterways

Larry Stefanski said the neighborhood suffers from limited stormwater infrastructure capacity and that existing corrugated metal pipe has deteriorated to the point that some bottoms are missing and sections are crushed, reducing conveyance. "Some of the pipe has also become crushed and cannot convey the same capacity as originally intended," he said, linking that failure to freezing and flooding problems in the neighborhood.

Stefanski described environmental benefits expected from the work: improved conveyance that will reduce localized flooding and remove road dirt from stormwater before it reaches creeks, which he said will improve waterway health. "This storm system was designed to remove stormwater from streets and convey it through pipe systems to help with localized flooding and minimize road damage," he said.
