South River adds security-deposit tiers and higher fees for Grekoski Park baseball field

The Borough Council adopted Ordinance 2026-07 to amend Chapter 155 (Fees) concerning athletic-field reservations. The ordinance establishes two-hour usage fees for Grekoski Park Baseball Field ($150 for residents/nonprofits; $200 for non-residents/for-profit users) and requires refundable security deposits for non-Borough-sponsored users: "$250 for one (1) to five (5) reservations; $500 for six (6) to ten (10) reservations; $1,000 for eleven (11) or more reservations." The deposit may be used to cover cleanup, maintenance or damage beyond ordinary use.
Council clarified that the rule targets outside entities rather than South River leagues, and the clerk recorded the ordinance as adopted on March 23. The ordinance instructs Parks & Recreation to inspect the field after use and return any remaining deposit within 30 days following a final inspection.
