Pitman rolls out 'Adopt a Park' program; proposed pavilion fees may conflict with Green Acres rules

Council President James described a new "Adopt a Park or Playground" program that will allow local groups to commit to weekly trash pickup and routine monitoring, and said, "The form has been finalized and should be on the website soon." The program aims to engage community groups in routine maintenance and to improve park oversight.
The Recreation Commission also discussed charging fees for use of Alcyon Park Pavilion, Sunset Auditorium, Grove Auditorium and tournament fees for the disc golf course; those fees would apply to commercial/for-profit groups only and would contribute to maintenance costs. Solicitor Wright cautioned that properties subject to Green Acres funding must remain accessible to all, and he will review which specific areas might be affected before the council moves forward with any fee schedule.
