Trustees and staff discussed the calendar and the differing purposes of work sessions and board meetings, including how much substantive learning and deep data review should happen in work sessions versus formal votes in board meetings.
Several trustees recommended using work sessions for learning and detailed review and preserving board meetings for items that require votes. One trustee asked that canceling or changing public meeting dates be subject to full-board action and noted legal notice requirements. Presenter (S4) outlined upcoming topics to be slotted into work sessions and asked trustees to flag any missing items for October–January scheduling.
No formal calendar change was recorded as a board vote in the transcript; staff said they had already scheduled work sessions and would circulate times and revised draft materials for the strategic-plan deep dives.
