District staff propose public dashboard to track proficiency and tier reductions

District staff presented a mockup of a public-facing dashboard intended to give the community a high-level view of academic trends and to show whether district initiatives are reducing students in the lowest-performance tiers.
"What we're seeing is we say we want an increase in 5%, every year when it comes to student proficiency and k 8 reading or I Ready reading," David (S6) said when describing the illustrative dashboard trajectory. Staff explained the illustrative percentages were produced by aggregating spring assessment percent-proficient values and dividing to produce a district-level rate and that they can change the calculation if the board prefers a different method.
Board members asked staff to label the dashboard clearly (assessment type, year-to-year percent change, and whether the displayed 'proficiency' includes all students or only the green band). Presenter (S4) said the draft will be revised and that staff will not publish the mock-up to the website until the board approves final language and formatting.
