Stronghurst schedules test well drilling June 5; village hauling water three days a week

Brotcke Well & Pump is scheduled to drill a test well for the Village of Stronghurst on June 5, 2025, weather permitting, the board was told. The minutes note the company experienced a delay at a prior job; once lab results from the test-well sample are received, the village plans to begin hauling water from its own well rather than buying water from outside sources.
Adam Fox of Benton & Associates told the board he has begun work on required permits and easements and will start the railroad permitting process, which he said is the longest part of securing permanent access. Water employee Ronnie Gittings reported that "the town is hauling around 3 days a week and keeping up well that way," and said having village-owned hauling equipment has improved flexibility.
The board approved a new well site location later in the meeting and authorized related procurement steps; the minutes show the board selected 905 County Hwy 7 in Carman as the proposed location.
