Votes and actions: Stronghurst board approves levy, meters and sidewalks

The Village of Stronghurst Board unanimously approved a slate of routine and capital items at its Sept. 3 meeting, including the annual levy ordinance, sidewalk repairs on Main/Broadway and the purchase of replacement water meters.
Trustee Amanda VanArsdale moved to approve the August meeting minutes; Janice Smith seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Trustees then approved payment of the bills and the August financial statements, each by unanimous vote. Nathan Harden moved to approve sidewalk repairs at the corner of Main and Broadway after reviewing a $12,000 estimate from Tim Thompson Contracting; Mike Bohnenkamp seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. Mayor pro tem Mike Swisher noted that Water Superintendent Ronnie will replace the existing culvert as part of the sidewalk work.
Village Attorney Mariah Wallace presented the annual levy ordinance; Trustee Mike Bohnenkamp moved to adopt the levy and Janice Smith seconded; the board voted unanimously to approve it. Clerk Brittany Smith presented a Fenix estimate to replace aging meter endpoints; the board approved purchasing 100 replacement meters at a total cost of $8,900 after confirming the village has surplus units from a previous order.
The meeting closed without executive session. Trustee Paige Torrance moved to adjourn at 7:06 p.m.; Nathan Harden seconded and the adjournment was approved.
