Board members question whether students are graduating with too-low GPAs

Staff responded that local boards have latitude to set graduation and grading criteria and that the district could consider raising minimum passing or graduation GPA thresholds, but members asked staff to study legal constraints and the potential impact on students, particularly those at Orchard Center and other at-risk programs. The board agreed to keep the GPA standard discussion on upcoming work-session agendas while staff gathers precedent and legal guidance.
