One board member recommended obtaining three bids for repair work and suggested exploring grant programs such as the Echo grant the city has used previously.
A board member noted, "We would have to get 3 different bids to remedy that," and identified John Schaffer as the city manager who has grant-writing experience and can assist with formal submissions. Members agreed the Powell property has potential as an events venue if water and HVAC issues are addressed, but that repairs are beyond the board's internal capacity.
The board will bring a more detailed remediation and funding proposal to the commission after gathering bids and exploring grant options.
