District reports inverter fire, roof repairs and NIPSCO metering error for solar array

The school board received an update that the district’s rooftop solar system has been temporarily turned off after an inverter caught fire and warranty work was initiated with Fronius. District staff also reported roof repairs by Tremco between the 4–6 hallways and said the panels will remain offline until a rain event verifies the roof is sound.
Board materials state NIPSCO did not read the district’s meter correctly, “showing no collection despite production,” and that the billing reflected only 25% of reported production; the utility is sending a team to investigate, the board was told. No formal remedial action was taken beyond authorizing staff to continue warranty and vendor coordination.
