Selectboard approves Lockerby Lane curb cut, seeks clarity on road classification and right-of-way policy

The Isle La Motte Selectboard on April 16 approved a curb-cut application tied to Nate Hayward’s East Shore and Lockerby Lane subdivision after the Road Commissioner, Robin Gutierrez, reviewed the site and recommended approval. The board recorded that only the East Shore driveway will require culvert placement and voted to approve the Lockerby Lane driveway with the recommended modification.
RC Robin Gutierrez raised a separate but related issue: conflicting maps in the town office and VTrans records. She said a 2010 map shows Lockerby Lane as private while a 2015 VTrans map labels it as town-owned. Gutierrez warned that if the lane is town-owned, it will “require upgrading to town road width and quality,” and she pressed the board to adopt a clearer right-of-way policy to prevent encroachments on West Shore. The Selectboard directed follow-up to resolve the classification and to notify involved property owners.
