Staff eye $100,000–$150,000 Commerce grant for feasibility work

During other business at the June 22 study session, CDS Director Chad Bala told the board the Washington State Department of Commerce contacted county staff about a possible additional funding opportunity in the approximate range of $100,000–$150,000.
Bala said staff are awaiting more information on the timeline for receiving the funds and are considering using the award for a feasibility analysis related to a building project or folding the work into recently adopted MID code implementation. The presentation record does not include a firm award amount, application deadline or stipulations from Commerce.
No formal action was taken at the session; Bala described the contact as preliminary and said staff will report back when more details are available.
