LaTricia Stroud was elected president of the WEST ORANGE-COVE CISD Board of Trustees at the district's May 19, 2025 regular meeting after board members cast a series of nominations and recorded multiple abstentions.
The reorganization began with a motion to defer discussion of reorganizing the board to a closed session and table the matter until the June 2025 regular meeting; that motion was moved by Gina Yeaman and seconded by Roderick Robertson but did not carry (3 in favor, 4 opposed). Subsequent nominations produced a tally that resulted in LaTricia Stroud winning the votes for board president, as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Board members then selected other officers. Tommy Wilson Sr. moved to nominate Roderick Robertson for vice president; that motion carried with five in favor and two abstentions (Stroud and Robertson). Donny Teate Jr. moved to nominate Demetrius Hunter as board secretary; the motion carried with five in favor and two abstentions. The board recorded vote tallies and abstentions for transparency during each nomination.
The reorganizational votes were taken under agenda item III. The meeting minutes reflect the roll-call-style tallies used in each nomination and the board's decision to proceed with the newly configured leadership team for the coming term.
