Mayor Janet W. Tucci presented the borough's proposed 2026 municipal budget and the council adopted the Municipal Budget Notice at the April 8 meeting.
"The proposed 2026 budget totals $15,235,525.50," Tucci said, noting the figure represents an increase of $448,807.99 over 2025. She told the council the municipal tax rate for 2026 will be 38.86 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, and that "the municipal portion of taxes for the average home will be $4,197.21," an increase of $44.37 from the prior year.
The mayor said the budget preserves funding for staffing and essential public safety services, continues investment in roadway and infrastructure projects, and includes nearly $1,000,000 for road paving and sidewalk improvements. State aid is unchanged at $805,662 and the borough plans to use $400,000 more in surplus than in 2025 to moderate tax impacts.
Councilman Bray moved adoption of the Municipal Budget Notice and Councilman Sniffen seconded; the council voted to approve the budget notice and scheduled a public hearing for May 6, 2026 at 6:30 PM at Borough Hall. Residents may present objections or comments at that hearing.
