Residents ask council whether county reassessment will include municipal input

A Monroeville resident raised concerns about Allegheny County’s reassessment process and asked whether the county is consulting municipalities about local impacts.
"Are they reaching out to the municipalities also getting input and talking to each of you about the impact eventually down the road?" asked resident Cheryl Boyce during public comment. She said her family's home value has risen substantially since purchase and that residents want clarity on programs such as homestead exclusions and waterfall laws.
The mayor and council said that, to date, the county had not engaged municipal leaders as fully as residents would like. The chair said the League of Municipalities had written to county officials requesting communication; council encouraged residents to contact their county council representative and some attendees planned to go to a county meeting the following Wednesday to press the issue.
Council did not take formal action; staff suggested residents submit questions in writing and seek follow‑up with county council representatives. The borough’s role will be primarily informational unless the county’s process triggers municipal review or appeals.
