Town says it has spent $1,500 and expects about $5,000 to restore sea grapes after trimming

Town Manager Michelle Heiser told the special magistrate she discussed the issue with HOA representatives and the property’s attorney after the prior hearing and that the town had already contracted work to replant sea grapes along the affected right-of-way.
"It's costing the town 1,500 just to plant the portions of the sea grapes back in to fill in the space," Heiser said, and added that the town expects to purchase new sea grape plants ("no more than 3 is what we're thinking") when recommended planting season returns. She estimated, "We see the overall projects, including the 1,500 that we're paying now, to be around the $5,000 mark." The town told the magistrate these costs factored into its request for monetary remedy because this was a repeat violation at the same location.
The magistrate accepted the town’s evidence and considered these remediation costs as part of the case record when issuing the financial penalty.
