The West Rusk County Consolidated Independent School District (WEST RUSK COUNTY CONSOLIDATED ISD) Board of Trustees met in a budget hearing on Aug. 25, 2025, in the district board conference room at 10705 Main Street Hwy. 42 in New London. Board President Sandra Smith called the session to order at 5:47 p.m.; trustees Will Sudweeks, Iris Hammontree, Robert Anderson and Chris Pratt were present. Superintendent Lawrence Coleman and multiple district administrators also attended.
Coleman opened the hearing for public questions and comments on the 2025–2026 budget and tax decisions. Two members of the public spoke: Donna Russell, a West Rusk resident, urged the board to adopt the No New Revenue Tax Rate for the upcoming school year, and Rachel Hale, a non‑resident, commented on GASB accounting for net positions. The hearing adjourned with no recorded vote on a tax rate and the board scheduled to reconvene in its regular August board meeting.
