Tilton board okays $12,600 for preliminary fire station planning

Trustees approved a $12,600 preliminary design proposal to evaluate siting and costs for a new fire and EMS building.
Village Engineer Tom Obermeyer presented the Farnsworth task proposal for initial planning, saying the deliverables would include a proposed site plan, floor plans, exterior renderings and a preliminary cost opinion. "The cost to do this very preliminary work is $12,600 on it," he said. Trustees discussed downsizing options, the potential reuse of the existing station as a community center, and requested one meeting with department leadership to identify program goals and space requirements before further design work.
The motion to authorize the initial $12,600 planning effort passed; staff and the consultant will schedule the scope meeting, prepare refined costs and return with the next-phase recommendation.
