Council told to allocate $42,000 from current fund to balance 2026 pool budget

Finance staff told the council that the pool utility exceeded prior revenue expectations in 2025 but accounting rules limit how much revenue can be anticipated for the 2026 budget. “We realized in cash or revenue 314,000,” staff member Susan said when summarizing last year’s receipts.
Because recognized revenue cannot exceed the maximum allowable prior-year amount and to avoid creating an overexpenditure, staff said the 2026 pool budget will include a $42,000 transfer from the current fund to the pool utility. Councilors discussed whether to set conservative recognized revenue figures or to reduce expenditures if the town wants to avoid the transfer.
