Habitat volunteers spruce up West Willow in Rock the Block event

Habitat for Humanity Huron Valley volunteers and corporate partners completed landscaping and minor repairs in Ann Arbor’s West Willow neighborhood, organizers said, with more than 100 volunteers taking part and the next Rock the Block scheduled for October.
Habitat for Humanity Huron Valley volunteers worked with neighborhood homeowners in West Willow to complete landscaping, trim overgrown hedges and carry out minor exterior repairs, organizers said.
A Habitat representative said the Rock the Block event brought "over 100 volunteers from local businesses and corporations" to assist homeowners, and described the work as part of the group's broader homeownership and home-improvement efforts. "They've helped trim out a lot of, brush and scrub that needed to go, and they have been wonderful helpers today," a homeowner said, describing trimmed hedges and a reduced rock garden.
A resident who said many neighbors are elderly or disabled told the program that volunteer crews make tasks such as yard work and repairs possible for those residents.
