The City Council authorized the Field of Dreams organization Aug. 5 to enter a multi‑year agreement with Transcendence Theatre Company allowing seasonal temporary use of the Field of Dreams site for summer productions in 2027–2029, subject to annual special‑event review. Parks & Recreation director Dave Jans presented a multi‑year framework designed to provide production and scheduling certainty while retaining annual permit review for public-safety and traffic issues.
Jans said the season is expected to bring roughly 18,000 patrons, volunteers and staff, with prior counts showing approximately 5,600 attendees from outside the city and an estimated $40,000–$60,000 annually contributed to Field of Dreams for maintenance and youth-sports support. “By the end of the season approximately 18,000 patrons, volunteers, and staff will have attended Transcendent shows this season,” Jans said. Field of Dreams board member Joe Diggins told the council the revenue helps fund field repairs and subsidize youth sports; artists and residents also spoke in support. The council voted unanimously to authorize the multi‑year arrangement, while maintaining annual event review.
