Applicants say new garage at 209 North Mohawk will "beautify" block, serve as workspace for sculpting and auto work

Rachel Terrett told the board she purchased the property at 209 North Mohawk in 2020 and has completed major improvements to the house. "We always felt that the metal roof was the only thing holding it up," she said of the prior garage; she presented photos and said the old structure has been demolished.
Terrett described the new building as part workshop, part studio: her partner, Joe Enoch, is a master automotive technician and wants interior height and a large door to service trucks and work on diesel engines; Terrett said she plans to use the space for large-scale sculpting. Terrett emphasized the project is not intended as a commercial operation on the property and said the new garage will improve her property's appearance and the block's.
During questioning, Terrett explained the proposed building dimensions (26x32x16) and that the concrete pad will be poured over the old pad to extend the depth. She said the proposed structure meets setback requirements but is marginally over village size and height limits and asked the board to approve the minor excesses so the couple could pursue their projects.
Terrett thanked the board for their consideration and said she looked forward to the next step when the village board takes up the recommendation June 30.
