Resident says storm damage left her without a toilet for weeks, urges village policy change

Nina Paciolo, a North Riverside resident of 13 years, addressed the village board during public comment to report storm damage that flowed into her home and to urge policy changes on parkway maintenance. "On the night of March 22, when we had a pretty bad storm, water began pouring into my 1st Floor bathroom, which is our only bathroom, due to a collapsed shoreline in the parkway caused by a tree root," she said, recounting repeated contact with trustees and village staff.
Paciolo said she reached out to all trustees, the public works director and the village president, and that only one trustee initially responded; she thanked Public Works Director Vince Ranieri for his response but said the overall permit and inspection timeline left her without toilet and shower access for weeks. "I was without a toilet and a shower and forced to stay with family until I could finally return home on April 15," she said. She asked the board to "take these concerns seriously and review the current policies regarding resident relations and parkway maintenance."
