Proposition 403 passes; measure adds code to preserve Sedona Cultural Park as public space

Voters in Sedona approved Proposition 403 in the July 21 primary, the city clerk reported at the Aug. 4 council meeting. The initiative would amend Title 12, Division 2 of the Sedona City Code by adding section 12.30.0.030 to preserve the Sedona Cultural Park as a public space.
City Clerk Joanne Cook read the tally for Proposition 403 and announced the measure had passed. "That is hereby found, determined, and declared of record Proposition 403, an initiative amending Title 12 Division 2, Sedona City Code, by adding section 12.30.0.030 relating to the preservation of the Sedona Cultural Park as a public space passed at said election," Cook said, reporting 2,183 yes votes to 1,402 no votes.
Council members did not take separate action on the measure during this meeting; the clerk indicated the results will be added to the posted presentation materials and the council agreed to seek legal advice on what the passage means for the city's obligations and responsibilities.
