Jessica Chiles told the Shandaken Planning Board she won a RUPCO "plus 1 ADU" grant to build a one‑bedroom accessory dwelling unit on her 8.4‑acre property to house her mother. She provided a survey and elevation maps showing the proposed ADU footprint, adjacent parking and the location of an existing septic system.
Planning Board staff (S6) read the short Environmental Assessment Form: total site acreage 8.4 acres, physically disturbed area 0.15 acres, residential use, private water and wastewater connections, no state-listed critical environmental area or identified threatened/endangered species, and forested land on-site. Board members asked about runoff and gutters; staff and the applicant said the existing driveway and drainage patterns would be considered and that a licensed septic engineer would be engaged if needed.
A motion (moved by S4, seconded by S6) designated the application a Type 2 action under SEQR; the motion carried by voice vote. The board scheduled the public hearing for the next regular meeting on June 10 at 6:45 p.m. The applicant asked whether notice letters were needed; the clerk said the board staff would send required notices to affected parties.
