Parks officials outline Big Indian concert series and Rock Cut park plans

Parks & Recreation representatives told the board they completed a site visit with playground vendor Kompan and expect a phased installation: site grading and equipment installation (phase 1), landscaping (phase 2), and fencing and signage (phase 3). "Phase 1 is a site grading and equipment installation," the parks representative said.
The department announced the Big Indian Concert Series dates: Sundays July 12 and 26, August 9 and 30, and September 13 and 27, with music from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The parks manager said the town is pursuing a fiscal sponsorship through a local nonprofit so the free series can be funded and run safely.
On the Rock Cut parcel (owned by the New York State Department of Transportation), town staff said DOT offered two paths — a temporary UNO permit (a lease allowing town management while DOT retains ownership) or a surplus permit that would be a permanent transfer; the town expects to pursue a UNO permit to allow relatively quick development and management. "We as a town... are gonna pursue the UNO. It leaves ownership with DOT... and allows us full use and management of the park," a town staffer said, adding the UNO route is quicker to implement and DOT staff were "super supportive."
