Board approves July 4 parade route and festival budget; votes on two small donations split trustees

Trustees who opposed the donations said they preferred voluntary personal donations rather than spending taxpayer money; others defended supporting local events to keep festival costs manageable. "We're talking about donating $750" (combined discussion), one trustee said, while another said they planned a personal donation in lieu of a taxpayer-funded gift. The board also discussed parade logistics, sheriff coverage and barricade/insurance arrangements necessary for IDOT approval.
